I'm back.... didn't mean to take a 6 month hiatus!

Wow, it sure has been a long time since I've posted on here! I admit, I have neglected my blog in favor of my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Heidi-Kreitz-Photography/32179020635), as it seems I spend a lot of my time (more than I should!) on Facebook anyway.

I have had a busy spring, with sessions and a new endeavor for this year, taking photos for our local baseball association (http://wilmingtonbaseball.net/). I have been taking action photos from the games and then posting them on my website for people to view and order. If you'd like to check them out, you may visit http://www.heidikreitzphotography.com/clients/ and enter the password WBSA to view photos from the different games. It has been a lot of fun!!

That said, here are some shots from a few sessions this spring...

I will add more from spring sessions in a different post, as well as some of the action baseball/softball shots. Those are so fun!!

This Newborn Rocks!!

And so does his Mom for coming up with this idea!! I first met this family in November of 2008, when I did newborn photos for their middle son, M, and now we're doing photos of Mr. R, boy #3!!

Isn't this photo with Dad's guitar just the best? Seriously, who can resist a baby with a mohawk and a guitar tie? :)

And Grandma made him this little bear hat before our session... isn't it just adorable?

Finally, Mom asked if we could try a family shot in their bedroom on their bed. Heck yeah!! I loved the idea, and love the way it turned out!! Look at Mom and all her men... Testosterone City :)

Thanks to the K family for letting me capture these memories of your newest family member! You certainly have 3 handsome boys... congrats!

Another sweet newborn girl :)

Last week I had yet another sweet newborn girl to photograph :) Miss C was such a cutie... and even though I'm showing these sleeping photos, she was awake and alert a lot of the time too. Such big, bright eyes... I even got some eye contact!

I was able to sneak in a few of her in this adorable hat...

And finally, one with my macro lens. I just love this shot!

Thank you to T & R for letting me photograph Miss C, and her big sister I. You have such a beautiful family - I really enjoyed meeting all of you :)

Little K is Turning 1...

I was very happy to get to see Miss K and her family again... we had just done an outdoor family session the week before, so I knew just how cute she was going to be!

How can you not smile when you see that little face... not to mention her ponytail!!

Who doesn't just LOVE a baby in a basket?! I even got to try out my newest blanket, which I thought worked lovely here :)

And finally a shot with her parents... I just love how happy they all look here!

Thanks so much for making the drive to my studio from Naperville... it was so much fun to see all of you again, and capture these moments as K turns one!

Newborn! Sweet Baby A

I've been a bad blogger lately... I apologize :) I need to do better about that... but here is a sneak peek of a sweet little newborn girl. This little doll is the spitting image of her father... I was amazed when mom showed me his newborn photo, because they look so much alike!

As fate would have it, the little baby who slept nonstop for the first 11 days of her life decided that Day 12 was going to be the day she stayed awake all morning!! So while we didn't get the curled up, sleepy naked baby shots we were hoping for (Miss A was also modest and didn't seem to like being naked very much!) we did get some other sweet photos.

Isn't this family shot just beautiful?!

Hope you enjoyed your quick preview, A & S! Congrats on your new addition, she is truly precious!

A 1-yr old session and cake smash!!

I was lucky to get to work with this family again... I first took N's pics last fall when he was only 3 months old (see the link here: http://heidikreitzphotography.blogspot.com/2008/11/mini-session-with-two-sweet-munchkins.html ). Now, we were commemorating his 1st birthday!!

He wasn't real thrilled about smiling whenever I stuck that big black box in his face, but we managed to get some adorable shots nonetheless.

I was excited to get some pics with him and mom's gear. She is a firefighter, and I thought these photos were so cool! The helmet was awesome... it belonged to mom, and her father before her! Great family tradition!!

Then we broke out the cake!! N did not hesitate to dive in and get his hands (and face, and everything else!) dirty. I think we can safely say this was his favorite part of the session :)

Love how his hand is completely buried in the cake up to his wrist!

And finally, one that is kind of an outtake, but I think it is SO funny I had to post it! We all know this feeling, when we have stuffed ourselves and feel like we cannot possibly eat another bite. Ever. The way he's kind of sitting there in a stupor is just priceless. Love it!!!

So, thanks again to the C family for allowing me to work with you! I had alot of fun, and I hope you did too. Enjoy your previews, and I'll let you know when the entire gallery is ready for viewing!

Sweet baby girl...

Well, I returned from vacation to find a message that my maternity client from June had delivered a baby girl while I was gone! I was so excited to have a session when I got home!!

Little Miss O was just the sweetest thing... she would alternate between being awake (and wanting to eat, pee or poop LOL) and sleeping just long enough to get some great shots in!!

This was the base of table in my clients' home... we just took off the glass top and set it in the hallway. I loved the texture of it... and so did their cat, who kept jumping up whenever we would move Miss O!!

This blanket was extra special, as it was knitted by Miss O's great-grandmother before she passed away.

I was SOOOO excited to have a newborn girl again, since my last few newborns have been boys. I had a fun flower hat I wanted to try with her... so imagine how happy I was when I arrived to find my client had this little hat!! I was in heaven :)

I tried a new "honey" like process on this photo to give it a different, dreamy kind of feel. I think it works well on this one... what do you think?
B and K, I hope you enjoy your sneak preview! I had so much fun with these... congrats on your adorable new girl :)

Newborn Baby D!

I was fortunate to be able to photograph my friend M's new baby... her fourth, and her first boy! This was just a quick mini session, but we did pull out some fun "boy" props that we weren't able to use the last time. I'm not going to blog those yet, because she hasn't chosen her birth announcements and they should be a surprise!

But here are a couple previews... Mr. D was SO cute and sweet. Made me wonder why I stopped at two!

I just adore how his fist is pushing in on his little lip in the second one... too too cute!

Sweet little lips and loads of hair...

I recently had a session with a 3 month old doll, Miss K... she and her mom, L, were so sweet! L is a friend of a friend, and it was great to get to meet her. I got some wonderful shots of them together... I love this one with both of them looking at me so peacefully, and look at those cute little toes peeking out from under Mom's arm!!

Little Miss K was so good... and Holy Hair on this babe!! It made me laugh, b/c it reminded me of my own kids' wild-n-crazy hairdos when they were little!

She didn't have a whole lot of smiles for the camera - she seemed to turn quite serious whenever I brought that big black thing up to my face - but she was still such a cutie!

After a couple hours of wonderful awake cooperation, she had just had enough and couldn't stay awake anymore. So I was able to capture some of the most precious shots of her sleeping in her mom's arms right before I left... isn't this just perfect?! Those are the sweet little lips I'm talking about...

L, it was so nice to meet you, and I had a wonderful time working with you and Miss K! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek... I'll get you the rest of the photos soon!

Alert and strong newborn boy...

I did a newborn session last week with the V Family... Baby "E" kept me on my toes! He was so alert and awake for almost the entire session! We cranked the heat up to 80, mom fed and rocked him (more than once!), gave him some background noise... but still he only slept for about 10 minutes. I guess he couldn't bear to miss anything LOL!!

Look at those big bright eyes... so sweet...

Here he was during his VERY brief nap... love those newborn wrinkles!!

And one with big brother "T" when he got home from preschool... I was amazed at how strong baby E was. We'd lay him down on his stomach to get some pics with big brother, and he would push up and turn his head away from me to look at his brother. So we flipped his body around, thinking maybe he liked facing to the right better, and he did the same thing back the other way! I was getting a complex... either he hated my camera or really loved his big brother... I'm sure that's what it was :)

So here's your preview, P and J... thank you for the opportunity to work with your sweet boys!

Mini session with two sweet munchkins...

I recently posted an outdoor family session with these two cuties, Miss A and Mr. N and their parents. They also came in last week for my Holiday Card Mini Session to get some of the children together in the studio.

Miss A is 2 1/2, very independent and full of spunk!! She took some convincing (translate: bribing with Smarties and Halloween fruit snacks!) to stop hiding behind the chair and pose for pictures with her brother, but eventually we succeeded and got some good ones!

While she wasn't too excited about taking pics together, she was more than willing to model for me while baby brother needed a bottle...

And Mr. N was sweet beyond words... I could have sat here and held him all day (he was such a good boy AND he still has that new baby smell)!!

I was happy to have another opportunity to work with these two, and hope to see them back again someday! They're just too cute!!

Sweet snuggly, sleepy newborn boy!

I just love referrals - thanks A!! I was so excited to get the email that someone had seen my work and wanted me to take newborn photos of her soon-t0-be born grandchild! And they wanted me to do them in the baby's first week (yay)! Babies are so much easier to position in the first week, as they're still bendy and foldable and will usually stay where you place them once asleep :)

This family was great... they cranked up their heat and let me work with their naked, sleepy baby boy for over 2 hours to get SO many adorable shots!! Mr. M was the tiniest, sweetest little peanut... I wish they were all that easy!

Mom and dad really wanted one with big brother Z, who wasn't all that interested in getting his pic taken! So we just snapped a few, and came away with this gem :) Isn't it perfect?

So thank you, K family, for letting me meet your new darling boy! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek... I'll get the full gallery to you soon!

Cloudy day... sweet family!

Well, the weather wasn't on our side for this session last Friday... it was very cloudy, chilly, and it actually started sprinkling before we were done. But we were bound and determined to get this family session done!

Little"Miss A" fell asleep on the way there and the poor sweetie really wasn't sure she wanted much to do with me, but she finally came around (treats in the camera bag work wonders)!

And baby "N" was all curious and happy... a little cutie :) He did have a little habit of spitting up... in large volumes... Outfit #1 was done before he even got out of the car LOL! But one thing I've learned, both as a mother and a photographer of babies, is that you've got to be prepared for anything to happen and just roll with it :)

Here is one with N and his daddy...

And then a family photo... there was a whole flock of geese on the lake near us, and Miss A was very intent on talking to them and trying to convince them to come closer to us... very cute :)

And one more... I felt bad b/c the ground was damp so everyone was wet when we were done, but they were all such good sports! This is about the time it started sprinkling too...

Enjoy your preview - this was one of those sessions that was short but sweet!

Sweet kissable cheeks!!

I was so excited about this session last Sunday... this little doll was a newborn that I photographed back in the spring, and now she is 6 months old!!! I can't believe how quick the time has gone.

When I saw Miss A, I was SO happy b/c I knew I'd get some great shots - look at those squishy cheeks and adorable button nose!! She had the most adorable smile... can you tell I just adore her :)

She was such a good sport too... the grass was pretty wet (9:00 a.m. in the fall results in some pretty dewy grass) so we had to put her on some blankets, and I also set up my backdrop with paper at the park too which worked well, except for when she would plop onto her stomach and try to army crawl away!!

Here she is... getting ready to make a break for it...

So then we decided to contain her... everyone loves a baby in a basket :)

And finally, my favorite.... how can you not love this little doll!!!

C, thanks for bring Miss A back to me... I had so much fun working with you both again!

Sweet newborn girl...

Here are a couple preview shots from my session with sweet little "A" last Thursday. I had to laugh because her mom kept saying how big she was getting (at 2 1/2 weeks she was right around 8 pounds) but that seems so small to me - both of my kids were closer to 9 pounds when they were born!

Here is Miss A in her Easter dress... I love a baby in a basket :)

She was such a good girl... hardly cried at all. And once she went to sleep towards the end of the session, she pretty much let us put her wherever we wanted!

And a foot shot... just because I love them! Look at those tiny little toes!
