A quick glimpse of an in-studio E-Session

I was recently contacted by a couple who wanted an outdoor engagement session, but we couldn't seem to coordinate our schedules during daylight hours in time for their engagement party. So we decided to hold this session in my temporary studio (also known as my living room, until my garage studio is built!)...

Things seemed to work out just fine with K&J in the studio! I got some blank looks from K when I first told him I wanted them to "interact" with each other instead of all posed shots.... but after a while everyone relaxed and there was a little bit of everything going on - laughing, kissing, wrestling, biting (don't ask)!!!

So, J&K, enjoy your preview, and congratulations on your engagement!!

Sweet newborn girl...

Here are a couple preview shots from my session with sweet little "A" last Thursday. I had to laugh because her mom kept saying how big she was getting (at 2 1/2 weeks she was right around 8 pounds) but that seems so small to me - both of my kids were closer to 9 pounds when they were born!

Here is Miss A in her Easter dress... I love a baby in a basket :)

She was such a good girl... hardly cried at all. And once she went to sleep towards the end of the session, she pretty much let us put her wherever we wanted!

And a foot shot... just because I love them! Look at those tiny little toes!

What a beautiful winter morning!!

This morning I woke up to find all the trees in our neighborhood covered in ice - my kids and I were commenting that it looked like a fairy tale, or a winter wonderland! So after we dropped my daughter off at school, my son and I headed to the local forest preserve to check out all of the beauty nature has to offer on a COLD winter morning!

This next one I was trying to catch the sun coming in through the trees, but I'm not sure I got exactly the look I was trying for. Forgot my lens hood, too! I still do like it, even if the sun is a bit bright and distracting... another one of those shots I was practically laying on my stomach in the snow to try to get the right angle!!

This one I converted to BW using an infrared filter... thought it gave it a really cool effect.

And one more showing the gorgeous bright blue sky:

OK, now we've had our share of snow... I'm ready for spring :)

A "Mini" Engagement Session...

Here's a couple quick photos I did for my cousin and her fiance... somehow we all coordinated our schedules (I'm in IL, they're in Milwaukee, but we met up in Appleton, WI!!) to meet for a brief e-session at the end of January.

They were such good sports - I had them go outside in the snow (it was about 6 inches deep - her poor feet were soaked!) for a few shots that turned out great!!

My assignment to them is that they practice "gazing lovingly" at each other before the wedding, because every time we tried that type of pose, they started laughing and we got this instead :) But I'm OK with that - I love this shot!!

I'm baaaaaaaccckkkkk....

Oh wow - it's been a long time since my last post! In November, I was SOOOO busy with family sessions and people placing card orders before the holidays, and then we took a week for our family vacation to Floriday (we miss Mickey!)...

I took December off to regroup and spend time getting ready for the holidays, and now I'm back in 2008 and ready to hit the ground running!

Last week I decided to do a mini-session with my son to get back into the groove, and ended up with this photo that I absolutely fell in LOVE with!! Don't be surprised if you see this on my marketing materials or printed big somewhere in my house!

I've got some big plans in store for 2008.... this is going to be a great year for Heidi Kreitz Photography! My new, official website should be unveiled in the next week or so, I'm going to run some spring specials, and perhaps even a home studio may pop up this year!! Keep your eyes peeled for new and exciting things!!

And yet another senior boy... no girls for me yet!!

"C" was my third senior session - another soccer player! I should be a pro at "guy poses" soon!!

We scheduled this session for 9 a.m. on a Friday the kids didn't have school... which was a bit on the early side. I promised to make it as short and painless as possible so he could crawl back in bed!

His mom (also put to work holding my reflector!) was hoping for some great fall colors at the forest preserve, but we just didn't get many reds this year. Here's one with a hint of color...

And even though I forgot to stamp it as such, this one is my fave from the session...

My Latest Senior Session... A Soccer Player!

Last week I had a session with another senior... he was so nice! His mom was very helpful too...I put her to work as my reflector holder! "N" had fun giving her a hard time about not doing her job correctly... I thought at one point he was going to start explaining physics principles to her about how to reflect light properly!!

They were so fun and easy to work with... N had some great ideas for fun action shots with the soccer ball, and he came up with a great idea for this flip! The first time I didn't catch his whole body in the frame properly, but the second time worked great!

And finally, one of my favorite shots... it reminds me of a magazine ad or something!

Quick Peek from my Holiday Mini Sessions

I had three families take advantage of my Holiday Mini-Sessions held at the Conservation District on October 21... luckily we had a beautiful day! It was warm, and sunny... can't ask for more in late October!

Here is a quick look at one image from each session... I'd say they're my favorites but I keep changing my mind! So I'll say that right now they're my faves and leave myself creative license to change my mind later :)

Thanks again to everyone who came out for my mini-session day... I hope you had as much fun as I did! Special thanks to my hard-working, underpaid (translate: unpaid) assistant Bob!

Double Trouble... in the form of identical 4-yr old boys!!

I had my work cut out for me with these twins... thankfully they were dressed in different color pants! As it was, I barely stood a chance at telling them apart - I kept calling them the wrong names and the poor kids didn't know who I was talking to!

Luckily, we started with the family pics at the lake and then moved over to the waterfall, because by the end these boys were both soaked head to toe!! While "N" splashed nicely in the water, "A" just about scared us all half to death because he kept running and skidding to a halt right at the top of the waterfall... Mom and Dad are going to have their hands full with that little daredevil!

And finally, my new fave ... I *heart* this shot! Now if I could only choose between color and b&w...
